Wordpress Beginners Guide

Step by step guide or procedure or tutorial for Wordpress Beginner

Log in to your WordPress Website and update the following for your need.

Profile:
  • Update your profile through Dashboard->Users->Your Profile

Themes:
  • Set your preferred theme.
  • Install and activate a new theme through Dashboard->Appearance->Themes.

Customize:
  • Customize website appearance through Dashboard->Appearance->Customize.
  • Set website identity like title, tagline and icon.
  • Set website header & side bar text and background colors.
  • Set website header image.
  • Set website background image.
  • Customize menu and its location. Add your custom menu and set primary menu. Link Page/Post to menu items. Re-order Menu items.
  • Customize widget area. Add/remove/re-order widgets.
  • Set website front page.

Settings:
  • If needed, change website URL through Dashboard->Settings->General.
  • Set writing & default post parameters through Dashboard->Settings->Writing.
  • Set reading & front page parameters through Dashboard->Settings->Reading
  • Set discussion & comment parameters through Dashboard->Settings->Discussion.
  • Set media parameters through Dashboard->Settings->Media.
  • Set permanent link parameters through Dashboard->Settings->Permalinks.
  • Set social interaction & sharing parameters through Dashboard->Settings->Sharing.

Plugins:
  • Install the basic plugins TinyMCE Advanced and Yoast SEO. Set the Plugin parameters.

Media:
  • Add new file to media through Dashboard->Media->Add New. Always add images & files of recommended size & resolution.
  • Set Title, Caption, Alt attribute and description for each file.

Page:
  • Add a new page through Dashboard->Pages->Add New.
  • Set page title relevant to its content.
  • Edit permanent link, if required.
  • Set page attributes and featured image.
  • Set focus keyword, meta description and update data to content.

Category:
  • Add new category through Dashboard->Posts->Categories.
  • Set name, slug and description.
  • Click Add New Category.

Tag:
  • Add new tag through Dashboard->Posts->Tags.
  • Set name, slug and description.
  • Click Add New Tag.

Post:
  • Add a new page through Dashboard->Posts->Add New.
  • Set post title relevant to its content.
  • Edit permanent link, if required.
  • Set page attributes like format, categories, tags and featured image.
  • Set focus keyword, meta description and update data to content.
