8051 General Purpose Resisters

8051 Register Bank

  • 00H – 1FH: 32 bytes
  • 32 General Purpose Registers.
  • Grouped in to 4 register banks.
  • Each bank has 8 registers R0–R7.
  • Program can select any of the 4 register banks for it use through Program Status Word (PSW) register.
  • Register bank 0 is used by default.
  • These registers are generally used to assist in manipulating values and moving data from one memory location to another.
